Godzilla vs. Kong, also known by the working title of "Apex"[2] is a American science fiction monster film produced by Legendary Pictures, and the fourth entry in the MonsterVerse, following 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It acts as a sequel to both King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island, and was released to American theaters on March 31, 2021.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Legends collide in “Godzilla vs. Kong” as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two Titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Five years after Godzilla defeated King Ghidorah in Boston, Godzilla and Kong are currently the only two active Titans on the Earth's surface. Kong is being monitored by Monarch in a biome on Skull Island, as the island's ecosystem had become unstable. Kong is visited by Jia, the last known Iwi native and the adopted daughter of Illene Andrews, who is an Monarch expert with Kong.

Meanwhile, Bernie Hayes, an employee of the tech organization Apex Cybernetics and the host of a Titan conspiracy theory podcast, extracts data that suggest sinister activity at a facility in Pensacola, Florida. That's when Godzilla arrives and suddenly attacks the facility. During the rampage, Bernie stumbles uppo a massive device. Madison Russell, daughter of Mark Russell and the late Emma Russell who is also a fan of Bernie's podcast enlists her friend, Josh Valentine to investigate Godzilla's mysterious attacks.

Meanwhile, Apex CEO Walter Simmons recruits Nathan Lind, a former monarch scientist and Hollow Earth theorist to guide for a power source within Hollow Earth. Although Nathan is hesitant due to his brother dying in a past expedition to the Hollow Earth, he agrees after Walter reveals that Apex has developed HEAV's specialized crafts that are able to withstand pressure exerted by the gravity field.
